Fans of Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace can now pay tribute to the iconic hip hop star, thanks to a unique online contest produced and powered by FameCast to promote the Fox Home Video DVD release of Notorious, the 2009 Wallace biopic.
Fans can log on to www.notorioustribute.com to submit their tribute. Contestants’ tributes can come in a variety of forms. It might be a musical composition, music video, a short film, a poem or essay, a piece of artwork – it’s really up to the imagination of the person submitting the entry.
The winner will get the chance to live B-I-G in N-Y-C, where Wallace grew up. The winner and a friend will receive a package that includes airfare, 5-star hotel accommodations for two nights, personal limo service and a shopping spree. The contest runs through May 13. Fans who don’t create a piece are encouraged to visit and enjoy the tributes, then vote for their favorites. One lucky voter will receive a copy of the DVD.
Notorious chronicles the all-too-brief life of Wallace, played by Jamal Woolard. In just a few short years, Notorious B.I.G. rose from the streets of Brooklyn to become one of the most influential hip hop artists of all time. Wallace was killed by an unknown assailant in Los Angeles in 1997. His influence remains strong, and he still has legions of fans despite a relatively brief career and 12 years since his death.
Because of his continuing popularity, FameCast and Fox Home Video expect a large number of entries, and a far greater number of visits to the site by fans to view the tributes, to vote on their favorites an to participate in the “Community” section.
